(Pet Shop Boys, 2010)

A dupla inglesa Pet Shop Boys, formada pelo cantor Neil Tennant e pelo tecladista Chris Lowe, estourou em 1985, com o single West End Girls, lançado no Brasil no início de 1986, um dos raros singles e eps que eu adquiri, devido à exploração de custarem o mesmo valor de um lp em Pindorama. Ouvi-os à exaustão, mas não acreditava que tamanho sucesso iria durar muito tempo. Lançamento após lançamento a dupla foi ganhando credibilidade - fora as grandes vendagens-, particularmente com a turnê que deu origem ao vídeo Performance (1991). Muito chegados à coletâneas, o PSB, com este Ultimate, no entanto, não repete o padrão da indústria fonográfica em matéria de compilações: quase tudo repetido, com exceção de algum acréscimo mixuruca de lados B ou alguma faixa insossa ao vivo, sabendo que os fãs mais acríticos vão adquirir o produto para poder ter a "coleção completa" dos seus -argh! - ídolos.

São três cds com mais de sessenta faixas (veja abaixo). O primeiro cd não é útil para quem já possui os originais. Mas valem bem a pena os Top of the Pops - programinha britânico de tv bem comercial mas no qual apresentaram 99% das bandas dos oitenta que eu gostei - e o show deste ano no festival de Glastonbury.
